Wes and Nancy McCoy want to meet Ed Simon and me at 3:30AM this coming Monday morning. With Day Light Savings Time upon us that will work out to be 2:30AM on our internal clocks. Like Wes, I enjoy the early mornings, but it will be a long day.
Several people have asked how long does it take to get to Guatemala from "the greater Olathe metropolitan" area?
Somewhat surprisingly, the flight time is relatively short. It takes about as long to fly to Houston (2 hours) as it does to fly from Houston to Guatemala City. We fly almost due South crossing the southern edge of Mexico and the Yucatan peninsula. We'll arrive about Noon and will stay overnight in the City as we wait for the evening arrival of our MNU cohorts.
The weather is always a question.
This is supposed to be the dry season, but light, brief showers most every day can be expected. The highs are forecast in the mid to upper 70s with the lows at night in the low to mid 50s. Lake Atitlan is a tropical paradise even though it is at some elevation. (We'll talk about that more once we're in country.)
Well, I need to finish packing, so my next entry will hopefully be from Guatemala City sometime Monday evening.
Paz
M
